In New York City next week? Make sure to pay a visit to Chanel’s East 57th Street flagship store, where on the third floor the luxe French label has set up shop–namely, an exhibit entitled “The Secrets of the Chanel Handbags  designed to reveal the handbag’s je ne sais quoi while highlighting the craftsmanship that goes into making one of their most timeless accessories.

The exhibit launches in the U.S. on May 8 and runs through May 16. The exhibit takes people through the construction of the iconic handbag and its fashion evolution over time. Visitors will be able to walk through and interact with a visual presentation featuring handbags from the Parisian archives and of course see the latest versions designed by Karl Lagerfeld. I went to the Chanel handbags Resort trunk show last week and was impressed yet again over the many creative incarnations they manage come up with each season of the classic 2.55 bag. There were so many great bags to choose from but the “Ice Cube” caught our eye because it’s so different and fun !

My assistant of the day was my beautiful friend Christine Handy who patiently took notes on style names and prices on all the bags I liked. We had a lunch and shop date but ended up working with no lunch. Thanks honey, I owe you one! My friends all know they may be called into action at a moment’s notice and they all comply without complaint!

Made of clear vinyl “cubes” placed on metallic lambskin leather to resemble the iconic Chanel handbags quilting, the “Ice Cube” manages to maintain the classic flavor of the 2.55 bag while being completely modern and charming. On any other bag the look risks being absurd and tacky but on Chanel, it works.

What’s your input on backpacks with a high end designer name to them? Personally, I’m not too fond of them as prefer a handbag to a backpack of course, but occasionally I’ve spotted some tourists in my area with say, Louis Vuitton backpacks.

I spotted a backpack like no other today, it’s by French couture brand Chanel handbags and frankly, I don’t know what to think about it.The first thing that pops out of the screen is the school bus yellow hue of the bag. Can you say mega bright? Staring at this so early in the morning will definitely send wakeup signals to your brain up and perhaps rays of joy throughout your entire day. One thing is for sure that everybody will spot this boxy back candy from miles away for sure.

This piece features the classic Chanel bags detailing of interlocking C’s, a flap closure, a large back pocket and interwoven leather and chain straps led by flat leather straps that provide a more comfortable feel. Judging by its listed measurements, I don’t think you’ll be able to fit as much as your typical backpack promises to carry and you’ll definitely have more free space in a Chanel classic Jumbo bag instead. If your eyeing this unique piece, do note that this is indeed vintage and there is only one piece left!

Before we go any further, does Chanel bags website make anyone else sort of dizzy and motion sick, or am I just way too sensitive to that sort of thing? Websites where brands make their bags run frantically from side to side make my head spin, and that website structure makes me find something else to look at almost immediately.

In this case, however, I persevered in order to find the Chanel Rubber Effect Python Signature Tote Bag . Was my nausea worth it? I think it was, but then again, I do have an unnatural affinity for everything black.

There’s just something so thoroughly Chanel handbags about an exotic black bag. They use the color to greater effect than probably any other major designer, and the python gives the bag a thoroughly luxurious appeal that the brand’s customers expect.

I haven’t seen the bag in person, so I can’t comment with full knowledge about the rubberized finish, but the matte effect is a welcome change from the python that I normally see, which is almost always glossy. Flat black has an edgy, modern quality to it that the brand’s bags have lacked over the past season or two (at least in my estimation), and the finish might have done a bit to make the delicate scales more durable as well. In some ways, without the timeless elegance and beauty of monochrome, Chanel handbags could not be that popular and hot. Would you be offended if I say Chanel has become one of the luxuries that people are dreaming of owning some day just because it’s Chanel. Whether you agree with me or not, I bet you may admit sometimes a few designs out of Chanel “brought shame to their family”.

Not to mention the heart shape tote introduced last week, this so-called one indispensable bag in Fall/Winter 2009 of Chanel—Chanel Hobo Calfskin Bag Embossed With Chanel Signatures is exactly a negative example.

Although this time Chanel bags made some changes in the pattern, it yet looks like a dark big shopping bag or nothing remarkable. The embossed Chanel signatures have lost their purpose of adding saucy and chic and paled in the same dark and dull leather. The silver tone hardware also can’t aid this failure to show the contrasting color beauty of former and original monochrome. However, Louis Vuitton Bags has successfully gained this kind of easy beauty with embossed signatures.

So disappointed!!! Anyway, if you support Chanel purses with a fever that borders in idolatry, this hobo can be some use. Dimensioned at W 18″ x H 12.5″ x D 4.5″, it serves you as a huge shopping bag for holding enough essentials.
